Entering your skills / credentials

SkillsGraph currently allows you to create Education, Work and General credentials for your skills.

Skills and credentials

In SkillsGraph, we think of a 'skill' as any kind of ability or qualification that you might have -- e.g. knowing a subject (like mathematics), being able to do something (like playing electric guitar) or having a degree (high school, university or Ph.D). These are just examples. Skills can include any ability or qualification that a human can have (we don't support other species yet). Your imagination and abilities are your limits.

'Credentials' are the evidence in SkillsGraph that you have a skill. This can be as simple as you saying you have it (like a traditional CV), but the power of SkillsGraph is that it allows you to ask anyone else (so long as they have an email address) to confirm that you have the skill. You can ask multiple people for the same skill.

Creating credentials

To create a new credential for one of your skills, just click 'Create New Credential' on your personal home screen.

On the new credential screen, you will enter the following information:

  • name of the credential -- whatever you want to call it

  • type of credential -- currently Education, Work or General (we plan to provide more options later)

  • description -- however you want to describe the credential

  • logo -- optionally, you can add an image to the credential by uploading a JPEG or PNG file

  • authenticators -- a list of people (with email addresses) who will confirm the credential, which can be blank if you just want to claim the credential without authentication.

Then just click 'Create', and SkillsGraph will do the rest by entering it in your personal skill graph and asking your authenticators to confirm that you have that skill.
